When you look back at the many songs written and performed by the Eagles, “One of These Nights” is one of my favorites. Released in 1975, it was their fourth album produced in the studio and was the album responsible for making them into superstars at the international level. It was also the first album to hit number one – the first of four consecutive number one albums.

“One of These Nights,” the title track, was the first single released from the album and it hit number one on the charts. It’s also the Eagles song that Frey has said is his favorite. The second song from the album that was released as a single was “Lying Eyes.”  I scooted up to number two on the music charts and was a Grammy winner.

The final single that was released was “Take It to the Limit,”  written by Fray, Henley, and also Meisner, with Meisner singing lead vocals. The song made it to number four on the charts and was certified gold – the first Eagles single to be designated as such. The Eagles supported the album with an extensive worldwide tour and the album was nominated for an Album of the Year Grammy award, although it did not win.

If you haven’t seen the HBO television series, game of thrones, you don’t know what you’re missing. This is perhaps the most ambitious television series of all time. Incorporating over 256 characters in just the first three seasons in a multitude of filming locations, the series does an amazing job of reproducing the fictional land and imagined by the author, George R. R. Martin.

Having read the books – the first five of them in the series, anyway – this is a television series that can last for years. The books themselves are about 1000 pages each, and to date there are at least five of them with at least one more volume left to be written. The television series has already been renewed for a fourth season, which will air in 2014.

The series reproduces the political and power struggles of the number of noble houses who live in a fictional land. Almost a historical novel, with a touch of science fiction blended in, it makes for excellent reading an excellent viewing. You might be wondering, “Where Can I Watch Game of Thrones? If you can’t see the series in its televised form, I highly recommend that you watch Game of Thrones online. Your only regret will be the fact that you’ll spending hours in front of the screen. It’s that addictive.
